Jump to English

Botanic Chorus
A supplication for ecological fertility

Join a journey-performance through the Jerusalem Botanical Gardens with a motley gang of priest-actors in search of eco-equilibrium. Echoing the chorus from Greek tragedy and comedy, they offer an invocation to the ancient Gods of fertility, desire, healing, death, passion, and theater.

Is it possible to equalize the grotesque immensity of cultural and natural forces? What are the cycles of pollinating, fertilizing, nurturing, growing, withering, rotting, and feeding between human enterprise and the unquenchable Mother Nature and Father Wild? Is the very attempt to make sense of the conflict a doomed act of hubris we must each undertake?

5 performances only
24/5, 25/5, 27/5, 30/5, 2/6 @ 18:30

Directions

Duration – about 1 ½ hours. Performed in Hebrew.
The performance takes place out-of-doors and includes walking between locations. Jerusalem evenings are chilly! We recommend bringing a warm layer.
